To celebrate Whop's birthday on August 31, Root Nine Records, founded by Bobby Thompson, is releasing a 9-song compilation album entitled 'Why I Sing the Blues', which was one of Whop's staple live songs throughout his performing career. Pulled from various albums, like 1993's 'Live at Bad Habits' with Bad Influence, and the 1995 album 'Doing It On My Own', this compilation is the first of two in a series, with more re-releases and deluxe editions scheduled for fall 2020 and spring 2021.
